<p style="text-align: center;">By: Holland McGraw</p>
<p>A bottle cap is more than a closing mechanism, it’s a story confined within a minimal space. People have been popping and dopping bottle caps for over a century. It was invented and patented in the U.S. by William Painter, February 2, 1892 and is one of the worlds first disposable products. The profitability of the single use crown cork cap and toss inspired a young bottle cap salesman named King C. Gillette to invent the disposable razor.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/NYGingeraleWEB-2.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-410" src="http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/NYGingeraleWEB-2.jpg" alt="bottle caps" width="800" height="267" srcset="http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/NYGingeraleWEB-2.jpg 800w, http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/NYGingeraleWEB-2-300x100.jpg 300w, http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/NYGingeraleWEB-2-100x33.jpg 100w, http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/NYGingeraleWEB-2-150x50.jpg 150w, http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/NYGingeraleWEB-2-200x66.jpg 200w, http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/NYGingeraleWEB-2-450x150.jpg 450w, http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/NYGingeraleWEB-2-600x200.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></a></p>
<p>The implementaton of the bottle cap triggered the bottle to evolve and change shape from top to bottom; with their round bottoms and varied closing mechanisms to a dominant uniform shape that you see today. More fascinating than the evolving bottle and profit from a throwaway product are the images that fit within the small circular circumference of a bottle cap.<a href="http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Pepsi1WEB.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-417 size-full" src="http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Pepsi1WEB.jpg" alt="Bottle Caps" width="800" height="800" srcset="http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Pepsi1WEB.jpg 800w, http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Pepsi1WEB-150x150.jpg 150w, http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Pepsi1WEB-300x300.jpg 300w, http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Pepsi1WEB-100x100.jpg 100w, http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Pepsi1WEB-200x200.jpg 200w, http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Pepsi1WEB-450x450.jpg 450w, http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Pepsi1WEB-600x600.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></a></p>
<p>It was a time before giants, when numerous large, medium and small beverage companies competed against each other through text and imagery to capture a piece of the purchasing public. They reeled customers in with ideas of flirtatious females, sex appeal, patriotic themes, masculinity, romance and picturesque places.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/BottleCapsWEB.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-412 size-full" src="http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/BottleCapsWEB.jpg" alt="Bottle Caps" width="800" height="571" srcset="http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/BottleCapsWEB.jpg 800w, http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/BottleCapsWEB-300x214.jpg 300w, http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/BottleCapsWEB-100x71.jpg 100w, http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/BottleCapsWEB-150x107.jpg 150w, http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/BottleCapsWEB-200x142.jpg 200w, http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/BottleCapsWEB-450x321.jpg 450w, http://www.modern-fossils.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/BottleCapsWEB-600x428.jpg 600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></a>Although bottle caps are disposable to most, some are kept and saved by a quirky few that see more than a bottle cap, but a reflection of human desire sealed within a bottle caps minimal space.</p>
